I just finished watching President Obama accept the Nobel award for Peace, and couldn't be more proud as an American.
His message to the world was spot on from our need to balance the desire for peace and the need to control rouge idealists in a era of nuclear weapons. From the need to make peace, to the need to keep peace by encouraging democracy and freedom. From the price in fortune and blood that America has paid through the decades to advance freedom, while lessor hand wringing...

I saw something this morning that would have my Grandfather busily stacking firewood and securing shutters on the windows. It was pretty cold in Oklahoma City this morning -- 16 to 18 Degrees F -- depending on where you were. Despite the cold temperatures the wild turkeys were out -- hundreds of them.

This is the only pic I got snapped off -- and it's not so great. It's hard to get a good pic going 60 on a bumpy country road... there were 6 to 8 more groups of hens just...

All Weather Tires

Well it was the first snow storm here in Chicago and I was sliding all over the place in my G35. I'm due for some new tires and was considering upgrading to all weather tires vs standard tires. I was just curious if anyone else here on the forum has all weather tires and if you've noticed a substantial change in the way your car performs in snow. Regretfully I have a G35 from 2003 which is real wheel drive, I believe the 2004 model went to all wheel drive, just my luck lol.

We are reminded once again that people with lots of money are above the law in this country.

Tiger Woods at 2:25 AM hits a fire hydrant and a tree on someone else's property and is apparently getting away with it. He was not tested for drugs or alcohol because supposedly, "there was no probable cause" to do so. WHAT? No probable cause? This guy has demonstrated that he has the best hand/eye coordination on the planet, and then all of a sudden he can't drive...

I'm thinking of buying a new car. Not brand new, but new to me. Maybe a 2008. I was thinking of various options such as buying a (used) 2009 car in 2010 or a 2008 car before the end of 2009. I remember hearing something about how it's a good idea to buy a car at the end of the month when dealers are trying to boost their sales numbers and the clock is running, so to speak. Even better...

My wife and I used to go to the local YMCA a couple nights a week + Saturdays but now we're busy helping our daughter with homework and we only get to the gym about once a week (Saturdays). I'm finding it nearly impossible to exercise and I know that this is as important as what I eat as far as maintaining a healthy weight. If you work at least 40 hours a week and are raising at least one child, when do you find time to exercise? Where do you exercise?

The nonpartisan Joint Committee on Taxation reported that the House version of the health care bill specifies that those who don't buy health insurance and do not pay the fine of about 2.5% of their income for failing to do so can face a penalty of up to five years in prison!
