I've been thinking of that for years. And with the union's pension plan, once the place goes out of business (remember, it's when not if), the musicians would still collect 18.74 per month once they reach the age of 65, or they could start collecting at age 60 and get 11.42.

I went to Purdue on the GI Bill (sucking at the gov'ment teet) and got a degree in Restaurant/Hotel Management so I'd know more about the industry than the average musician who wants to open his own bar/restaurant. What I learned: You can do everything right, attract a steady crowd and STILL go under. Tough business. Appreciate and thank those who hire live musicians. Pay the cover charge, order a drink or 4 and hit on the waitresses. Don't forget to tip.
