Hi UpperRegister!

Boss' chops were indeed on fire that night. The whole experience of the Great American Music Hall recording was magic for me on many levels. One of the most inspirational things was to be around Maynard on such a night. To see him take his game to such a stellar place was quite a lesson. I think that he felt the magic in the air and realized that this recording was going to be important. He was always phenomenal, but that night he was metaphysical! The perfect combination of air efficiency and bebop. And we all fed off his energy and good vibes. The band played WAY above itself and came together in a very special way that night. How wonderful for such a thing to happen while the tape was rolling!

So glad you enjoyed it!
