I am also a trumpeter who doubles on superbone. I don't know how much it has helped my trumpet playing...I have exactly the same upper register on both horns (relatively speaking, of course). But I never understood how Maynard could play superbone and then, seconds later, start wailing on the trumpet. Myself? I need a few bars to get "reacquainted."
I hate how on the superbone the bell is closer to your face, making the slide positions seem "off." If you've never played regular trombone before, then it isn't a big deal, but if you are used to judging your positions based on where the bell is, then you'll be blowing sharp all night.
