People with good ears and good musical memories have to work harder at sight reading because they're not always depending as heavily on what's on the paper. Conversely, people without good ears and musical memories are more often great readers because they're always exercising that skill no matter how many times they've played or heard a tune before.

Now that's funny. I take it you're a bad sight reader? Or you have bad ears? I couldn't disagree more. To be a professional musician, you MUST be both a good reader AND have good ears. At least you threw in a 'most' in there. The only exception to the reading requirement is guys/gals who get into a band and become successful playing the same stuff night after night.
