It is so funny to recall the first time you see Maynard. I have always wondered if it was really as good as I remember it. I got some small confirmation at the LAJE Weekend the year after the Stratospheric event. In one of the break-out sessions someone in the audience asked Stan if there was a concert that he particularly remembered. Stan went on to paint a story I had in head for almost 30 years. He described playing in this small college basketball arena in Storm Lake Iowas as one of the best of his career. WOW, I'm not just a loyal fan with first timers infatuation. Everything Stan said was exactly as I remembered it and will hold in my memory forever. That was a great band. The year was either '74 or '75 and it started something big for me. Alas, that weekend in LA was my wife's first time seeing Maynard in person. As Serafin has described before the ladies always fell for Maynard. We were lucky enough to see him three times in the next couple years. Back to the topic - the best concert ever, for me, Storm Lake Iowa, early 70's with Stan.
