Byron played at our local college's Jazz Festival last spring - he was one of 2 guest artists, along with Eric Marienthal. Each artist was limited to 3 songs, plus a combined effort to close the show. I agree that Byron is a fantastic trumpet player. However, he did quite a bit of singing, too. One of his alotted 3 tunes was a vocal. Granted, it was fun and amusing, and a crowd-pleaser to boot, but . . . Also, his choice of vocal material was a bit questionable IMO - this was a largely high school-aged (with parents) audience, and his lyrics were a tad "mature" (if you get my drift). But, a good entertainer, and top-notch trumpeter none-the-less. Here are 3 photos - Byron playing, Byron singing, and then at the hang at my house after the concert.
