An update...

As of 05/20 I am now down to 223 pounds. Lost 18 pounds so far, 7 weeks into my effort.

My progress slowed down -- I started lifting again after 8 years off the iron. So... I'm adding muscle, which will help in the long-run, but is slowing the drop on the scales (it made me hungrier, too... so I had to put a few calories back in).

I'm pretty pleased with my lifting, though badly out of shape. I did not test my maxes on anything (that would be dumb beyond description after an 8-year layoff...), but I was able to handle 220 on bench, 245 on squat and 315 on deadlift without any issues -- -- except being freakishly sore the next couple of days....

My fitness goals: 195 pounds by March, 2010. Participate in a 5k run in April 2010 (a few days before I turn 40)
The plan: Clean diet centered on complex carbs w/ moderate fat protein, lots of fruit/veggies, eaten in 5 to 7 meals a day; lift twice a week; run twice a week; walk three times a week.
