I'm glad the subject of Birdland is up. I snuck it in on a 70s hit mix I made for my car a couple years ago and recently rediscovered the disc. Hall & Oates, Billy Joel, Elton, EWF, and Maynard and the band on Birdland. Real window crankin music

Anyway, in spite of some of the other tracks from the album Carnival, on which MF's Birdland originally appeared, this tune is pure MF and pure excitement. Was this a Nick Lane arrangement by the way? Just listening to the Boss play the release is an euphoric rush.

Whenever you're missing Maynard, even if you don't have the time to listen to the rest of the five minutes of the track, fast forward to the release and dig. You may cry, you may laugh, you may just smile and snap your fingers, but THIS was Maynard in all of his ridiculous glory!
