I am not a big fan of Rendell, but you are GROSSLY exaggerating a harmless 10-second sound bite. He never said "future growth will pay for everything." The fact is, it is the job of any governor to look for opportunities for industrial growth in his state and create an environment to attract those industries that are growing. And if you look at the growth of windmill manufacturers in Pennsylvania (and their component suppliers) you will see an example of exactly the type of green job growth that he's referring to.

There are so many better examples of wretched excess than this one. I think this one is a pretty desperate hail-Mary.

I am glad to see him staying home during our budget crisis. When you've got state workers showing up at work and not getting paid for it, it's a very severe situation that cannot allow for a Governor to be schmoozing with his colleagues.
