You're my hero Jim.

I am joining the diet club as I found out last Thursday I have Type 2 Diabetes. My back is in terrible shape and I know taking off pounds would help greatly. And my cholesterol is high but I've been ignoring it but now I have enough incentive to do what I need to do. I weigh 388lbs and am 5' 10.5". According to the "Ideal Weight" link posted a few pages back I should be between 136 and 179lbs. So, I need to lose more than half my weight.

As of Saturday I am taking Metformin and Byetta for the diabetes. I mention this because the Byetta injection has an additional plus in that it suppresses the appetite and people tend to lose weight.

Either the Byetta is helping or I'm too scared to eat wrong foods as so far I haven't snacked between meals and the meals are smaller. I need to meet with a nutritionalist to help me plan meals. My biggest problem will be exercising since my back isn't doing well. I have great pain in my hips when I stand or walk so I need to get past that in order to exercise.

Anyway, I'll try to post my results as I go along if anyone is interested in my progress.
