My general point is about the difficult process (not the book) and that I have never encountered challenges such as these in 40 + years of frequenting this library in trying to obtain an inter-library library book until this occurrence. I have yearly membership in the library's organization, regularly check out books there, supported the particular library there through various book sales and donations, yet I was surprised to receive the Amazon offer before the librarian would process my request. In fact, I did leave full information with my cell as an alternate method of contacting me if the book would show up when I was out of state to visit a museum with family. My wife also encountered a difficulty with this librarian when the county commissioners changed our address from a rural route to an e911 address. We (and many residents in the area) had to wait almost a year (May 2008-June 2009) until the local post office officially acknowledged the new addresses with a document so all residents in our area could officially change addresses for driver's licenses, billing of statements, voter registration, mailbox lettering, etc. We also had difficulties with shipments via UPS, Fed-Ex, etc. My wife was asked by the same librarian if our address was accurate once when she was trying to check out books with our children ( a weekly visit and routine). My wife told the librarian we were in the midst of changing our address but the new one hadn't taken effect. Well, the librarian was not going to allow us to check out any books that day without proof of the new address. Finally, another librarian walked over and simply told this librarian to give us the books. My point is that book lending practices had been friendly and easier in the past.
