Today was my monthly visit to my nutritionist. I wasn't too excited about going as I still haven't fully embraced the idea of keeping a journal of everything I eat and selecting and measuring certain amounts of proteins, carbs, fats for each meal, and buying foods I've never eaten before to be used in recipes I care not to make. Maybe I'm just lazy. And I ate large portions of my wife's chili the past few days and had a couple packs of Sweetart candies the other day. I told the nutritionist that as long as I'm losing weight and not starving myself then I don't feel motivated to do all of the above. She countered saying it's important to keep a journal as it will help me become more aware of eating healthy foods which in time I will prefer over the artery clogging, obesity causing, life shortening, mouth-watering foods I love (well she didn't put it quite that way).

I was happy when I stepped on the scale and saw I lost 4 pounds. It's only 4 instead of the 12 I lost last month and the 8 the month before, but 4 ain't bad considering the recent food intake.

I took my wife with me as she too is diabetic and wants to learn how to cook foods we'll both enjoy. It proved to be a good thing as by the end of the session we were able to come up with a half dozen or so "normal food" meals I or my wife can cook. I was to start doing it tonight but after I left that appointment I went to my back doctor and then had back therapy and by the time I got home I was so hungry I ate leftover Kentucky Fried Chicken. Oh well.
