Sorry no posts in a while -- I've been crazy busy.

RON: Hang in there, man. I still go pretty far afield from time to time -- it's the 'most of the time doing well' that will eventually create momentum, even if you do a little 'emotion eating'. (I keep celery and habanero sauce handy -- it's kinda like chips and salsa... at least a little... and then if I do go for the chips and salsa I do Tostitos Multigrain chips with sour cream and the hottest sauce I can find -- lower calorie combo than the old standard, but lets me splurge a bit).

JIM: 4 Pounds is a victory in my book. I will side with your nutritionist, at least a little... the journal is a great idea. I didn't keep a 'complete journal', but did take some snapshots. I posted a few of my daily meals on here a few pages back -- -- I also wrote down the details of days that I ate badly, and worked to come up with variations that were "bad... but not THAT bad...". I think it's cool if you just let it ride until you plateau, then add a new activity in to get you moving again -- that lets you stay sane longer.

Now... my update....

I DID IT!

I got stuck for a while, but I am now below my target weight of 195 pounds. As of this morning, I weighed 193 pounds. Counting from my April 1st official start at 241 pounds I have lost 48 pounds or 19.9% of my bodyweight. I'm down over 70 pounds from my heaviest a couple years ago.

You WILL have to tolerate a shirtless Brassman shot at some point -- but I haven't had time to take it. When I do, I'll put up a couple of 'before and after' shots.

Everyone else thinking of changing your eating lifestyle and losing a few pounds -- do it! You don't have to get skinny, but drop a few pounds and you'll feel better, sleep better, and have more energy. If I can do it, you can do it. I carried 50 extra pounds for almost 20 years. I am now lighter than my wife has ever known me -- I weighed 210 when we met 17+ years ago -- and hit 250 by our 2nd anniversary.

No matter how far you are from your target, and no matter how long you've carried the extra weight, just set a reasonable goal to start and get started. You will be glad you did.

To get you started -- here's a before shot I hadn't shared before, and an after shot that I did share before. My wife prefers the 'after'...
