Released in 1964, the two Cameo albums are The New Sounds of Maynard Ferguson and Come Blow Your Horn. Among other tunes, New Sounds has "At the Sound of the Trumpet" and Maynard's phenomenal performance on "Danny Boy," while Come Blow Your Horn is notable for "Theme from Anthony and Cleopatra" and several arrangements by Oliver Nelson. The Mainstream album Color Him Wild was also released in 1964 and includes "Airegin" and "People." Also from 1964 is the Mainstream album The Blues Roar, which is essentially a studio album featuring Maynard playing mostly blues tunes, including several items associated with Ray Charles. The Six by Six album is actually a reissue of the 1965 Mainstream album The Maynard Ferguson Sextet. The Atlantic-Enterprise album Ridin' High is from 1966 but does not feature Maynard at his best. Originally issued on Prestige, the much-praised Maynard Ferguson 1969 album was actually recorded in 1967. In 1968, Maynard recorded The Ballad Style of Maynard Ferguson, the first album from the Columbia years. From there, I would follow kmamf's advice to round out your MF collection.
