Granted regarding the lack of legit research. I've been using Red Rice Yeast for a couple of years now, along with mega Niacin, and saw only a minor improvement on those compared to when I'm off. The troubling thing lately is that while I normally managed into the low 200's, here in the last year it has jumped up -- seemingly correlated to my weight loss, which is the exact opposite of what I'd expect.

The homeopathy I was referring to was more along the lines of tightening my diet, following the Mayo Clinic nutritional programs, to a near-neurotic level. They've got one outlined that is basically vegetarian plus fish, heavy on oats, walnuts, other oily nuts, olive oil, and an emphasis on veggies high in plant sterols.

I'm just wanting to make sure that when I do end up on a statin that my Doctor and I both know the baseline measure has ruled out any aggravating factors.
