Hi All,During the week of November 8th, I walked a total of 21 miles in 5 days. My speed averaged 3.388mph. On November 17th I walked 4.5 miles in new shoes. The next day I walked a new record, 6.5% miles in 1hr 58min, which came out to 3.3mph. But by the time I got home my left big toe was feeling weird, like pressure under the nail. It swelled and hurt so a couple days later I cut part of the corner of the toe nail off and a bunch of fluid came out. I finally saw my doctor Monday as the swelling and pain wouldn't go away. The doc gave me an antibiotic and told me to see a podiatrist as I have ingrown toenails. I saw the podiatrist today. He numbed the toe and cut off the side of the nail. I didn't think about asking for pain killers but wish I had as the toe is throbbing tonight. It seems the combination of wrong shoes (I'll get to that), the distance, and my tendancy to get ingrown nails all combined to cause this problem.Turns out the Nike's I bought at Kohl's are legacy shoes. The podiatrist noted the shoes I have were first made 30 years ago. And back then they were made narrow. He gave me a prescription noting my foot issues to a place that will properly fit me into a shoe. So much for saving money at Kohl's now that I've paid a $15 copay at my regular doctor, $4 for the antibiotic, $30 for the podiatrist and another $30 in two weeks for the follow-up to the podiatrist. And I haven't walked any distance since the 18th.I saw my dietician/nutritionist today for the 1st time in 6 months. I have now lost a total of 130lbs in 16 months. She gave me a pep-talk/lecture that Thanksgiving is NOT about eating. Can you believe the absurdity? As it turns out I won't be having Thanksgiving dinner as my sister's gas stove started leaking gas and was red-tagged today. I may go to a friend's family dinner but that depends on how my toe feels tomorrow. For those following my dating drama, Holly is out of the picture. She kept acting interested in going out but then not coming through. We were supposed to hang out last Saturday night. I had asked her out and she said she had a grandson's b-day party to go to but would come over after the party. She could have said she was busy but instead said she'd come over. Well, Saturday late afternoon came, then when I didn't hear from her by 6 I texted her as I had told her I'd have a pizza waiting for her when she got there and it was getting time for dinner. She texted back that the party got more involved with more family members and she "probably" wouldn't come over. Fine, but she should have texted me instead of me contacting her. Then a few nights later she was instant messaging on Face Book while she was at Starbucks. I had asked if she wanted to go out. She cut out so I figured the wifi disconnected, but she never got back to me so I sent her an email saying call me if/when you want; I've tried too hard. Then yesterday she was on FB and I IM'd asking if she was going to make me a pumpkin pie as she had offered weeks ago. She signed off without answering so I sent her another email asking what/who the problem is. No response. I'm done. The lady I went to a chalk street art show a couple months ago, Cathy, emailed me the other night. She wants to get together as friends. So, we're supposed to do something this Saturday. I hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving; eat all you want.
