Hello Healty People (and those who continue to struggle)

I seem to be stuck around 275lbs.  I walk 2.5 to 5 miles when I can and I have increased my speed up to 3.5mph.  I haven't been to the YMCA all year since it aggrevated my herniated discs. 

I keep slipping off the wagon and eating potato chips or low-fat ice-cream.  I do this mostly when I'm bored or depressed.  I try to stay busy and I have a new lady friend who cares greatly about me being healthier but the meals she's been making aren't the healthiest in terms of fat content.  I am eating more veggies thanks to her.

I start swimming lessons this month on the 25th.  Yes, I never learned to swim.

Some days my pants feel a little looser but I can't seem to get rid of the gut.  What are good exercises for this area that won't mess up my lower lumbar area?
