Thanks Garry, that was great information. The horn is in terrific shape. It only has a 1/8" ding on the second valve slide. The plating is still beautiful. Its a typical story, the woman selling it said they bought it back in the 70's for her daughter for about $500. She used it in high school for concert and jazz band, and abandoned it when she went off to college. The valves were frozen, but I got them free with a little WD40. The slides had some heavy grease on them and still moved smoothly, slow but smooth. I was actually shocked that they still moved, considering the frozen valves. You could eat off the leadpipe, its pristine, much cleaner than any of my horns. She wanted $60 but after seeing my sincere interest in the history of the trumpet she would only accept $50.

I haven't played it that much yet, and I'm not a Schilke guy, but this sure feels a lot like some B-5s that I've played, and the bell has some nice meat and sizzle. I'll post some pics, if I can figure out how to do that. Thanks again for the info!
