Jerry brought three horns down last year for me to try and two more this year, thats a total of 5 Simas I've tried.

The very first one was really good (I mean REALLY) but the others did not play like that very first one (in silver) that I tried. Jerry brought the horns to a club I was playing in so I gave them all a pretty good workout. They all played the best when you used his mouthpiece (the superchops 3 I think?) but the rim is just too fat  for me.

All the "high end" horns are are pretty much made by Zig Kanstul. The Sima. Wild Thing , and most all the rest are made by Zig. The only trumpets out there that are made TOTALLY by hand in the USA are the Shires. I have herd nothing but great things about them from all my friends who have been at the shows and tried many horns in a matter of a few days. I know I don't have to start dropping the names of who my friends are, everybodys knows these guys are all PLAYERS and not one has failed to rave about the Shires.

For what you will spend om a Sima (2750.00) or a Wild Thing (close to three grand) you can actually get a nice Shires for less on Trent Austins site, I believe he is a dealer and from what I can tell an excellent all around player. And besides Trent doesn't charge the 250.00 re-stock fee that Flip charges to "try" a Wild thing for 7 days. Thats right you pay round trip shipping PLUS A 250.00 RESTOCK FEE, thats over 300.00 just to ship the horn then wipe your fingerprints off it when he gets it back!!!

Good luck horn hunting fellas...........
