Check out this video.  Audio is in Danish, but you'll get the drift.

"unless what you have is broken, you ain't getting any new ones"

Wow, she's a tough one. Laugh  Have you thought about accidentally over-driving them and blowing out the tweeters?  Then they'd be broken.  Wink

Otherwise, regarding the domestic politics involved, it's a process.  You could start with something like "Honey, does this recording of Artur Rubenstein actually sound like a piano?". (Be sure to turn the bass and treble all the way down.  No, wait, she'll know.  Forget that.)  Although she may have a more or less immediate response, the question will stick in her head.  If you don't own a piano for her to compare it to, casually take her to a place that does, like a local jazz club or a music store.  A week or two later, you might try this:  "Wow, Scheherazade is so romantic.  I bet the violin solo would sound awesome on some really nice speakers."  Don't even ask for a reply, just let it simmer.  Get the plan?  I guarantee that within six months, she'll think that buying new speakers was her idea.  Wink

Hey Indiana - YOU were the engineering manager?!  Eek  How cool is that!  "Pyle-driver".  An iconic name.  So, did Pyle build JBL drivers "waaay" back in the day, too?  Like in the 60's and 70's?  I'd be very interested in any background you can provide.  After JBL "revised their business plan", and dropped a bunch of really nice cone drivers (like the 2235 that I still would like to buy), I didn't pay attention to their products much anymore.  In the past 5 or 10 years, with their new line of finished products, like the LSR stuff, etc., I've been giving them another look.  Anyway, 8500 Balboa has been stuck in my head since forever, and it was initially a surprise to see Revel at that address, but I quickly realized that it's now the Harman address.  So, where are Revel speaker components actually made?  Please don't say China.

Given your history, you probably know 600 Cecil Street, don't you?  Happy  I'm a huge fan of EV, and life will never be the same without things like those white CD horns, the 12TRXB, the T350, the Sentry III, the 664 mic.  Geez, I'm getting all teary-eyed.  But they still make a killer RE-20.  Happy

Note to self:  Be really nice to Indiana MF Fan.
