I'm curious SoCalRoger, just where do you get your information from?  Is it your opinion that you have decided to state as fact?  "B1s play like ass".  I'm not even sure what that is suppose to mean.  Could you elaborate?  The large bore fad is over?  Really?  It was a fad? And you know this how?  It seems that you are saying that the B1 and B5 are large bore horns. They are actually identical step bore horns and categorized as medium large bores (.460).  The difference is that the B1 has a large bell (more conical taper) and the B5 has a medium large bell (a tighter flare).  The B3 is the only large bore horn in the B series.

I'm amazed that so many pro players have played on and even built their careers on these sucky Bb horns:  Bill Chase (B6), Randy Brecker (B6), Jon Faddis (B6,S42), Arturo Sandoval (B1,X3), Lin Biviano (B1), Roger Ingram (S42), Rick Baptist (B5), Adolph Herseth (B3), Forrest Butchtell (B3).  Yeah, it's probably best to stay away from horns used by a list of players like that.  They can't possibly be any good.  I wonder what I can get for my ass-like playing B1 on eBay?  Probably not much with these cursed Yamalloy valves (though they are wonderful now since switching to T2 valve oil!).
