Yes, Maynard was indeed on the Tonight show sometime in 1962. He played the Theme from Anthony & Cleopatra, was interviewed by Johnny, who said to him, "I wish I could play the trumpet that good ! I wish I could play blackjack that good !" He then asked Doc, who was in the section under Skitch Henderson at the time, what the last note of the piece was, and Doc replied a double C. After the break, Maynard then played Maria. I was a junior in High School, and was only allowed to stay up that late to see Maynard on TV. But I do remember it very well. I wish those tapes would surface sometime. Hope that helps some. Don Hahn
