It is all on trumpet.  On the first verse I used a more standard classical mouthpiece that gave me a mellow sound (had to eq out some hiss as well)
The last verses I used a lead mouthpiece, but EQ'd a little so as not to have it sound way too different than the classical mouthpiece.

I think a mixture of my microphone off to the side and Eq contributed to the flugelhorn quality.

Interesting observation.

As far as Driscoll's version...Much of the later verses are copied from his early 80's version which is no longer in print.
But, I did add and subtract a little.
