Maynard69- Glad you said it. I agree 100%. Could never figure out the brass streaming into the audience part either,(at Montreal '82 the reeds went out,too), although
at the first Maynard concert I ever attended (fall of '73) Lin Biviano stood right behind where I ws seated and screamed over my head and into my left ear. Pretty impressive for a kid to hear that. I guess that's what it was all about.

The Kenton band had a chart on Hey Jude which they played a lot for 3 years or so. The band grew sick of it. One day the band was travelling across the desert somewhere and Dick Shearer said to Kenton, "See that big hole out there in the desert. Tonight, one of two things is going into that hole - Hey Jude or you!" They played it that night apparently for the last time ever. I remember a Kenton concert where the kids were screaming for Hey Jude and Kenton had to go to the microphone and say, "I'm very sorry, but we don't have Hey Jude in the book anymore." (He may have added, "It's out in the desert somewhere.")
