I think they included McCartney and Hey Jude mostly because it symbolized the nostalgia for what is clearly the most famous English rock band and one of their most famous songs.  And let's not forget that the Queen knighted him - for whatever reason... it must have been important to the country.

I'm glad he decided to perform a faithful reprise, rather than a jumped-up hip version.  Excellent decision.

Still, it would have been fun for him to do "Mean Mr. Mustard" or "Maxwell's Silver Hammer", or better yet... "Her Majesty".  Happy
