After the initial shock (pun intended), I really liked High Voltage. I had no clue that there was going to be a format change, so my first reaction was "WTF?!".. But, I loved the charts, and I think that the first High Voltage LP had phenomenal sound quality, which the subsequent Intima releases seemed to lack. Any reservations I had were gone for good after catching the group live.. It was a blast (pun intended again).
Lastly, the electronic elements really appealed to young ears in the late 80s. I had a couple of friends who wound up being Maynard fans, and then jazz fans, because of that hook -- so I call it a success.
