I hadn't thought about this thread in a long time. I did however see Mike Brignola (not Nick) play recently in his Miami Sax Quartet in the Fall. That is a rocking group, although it lacks a trumpet section, just saxes. Gary Keller is on lead soprano sax and tenor, but a different Gary Keller from the Gary K who played with Gerry Mulligan's big band. The other guys are Ed Calle and Gary Lindsay, who is their chief arranger, although Ed writes a ton of their stuff too. I need to look up other stuff Lindsay has written because his arranging is very interesting. Ed Calle has a TON of chops and excellent writing/arranging skills.

BTW: This is a jazz group, not a classical music sax quartet and they swing like mad!
