I know there are tons of fabulous trumpet players and teachers who hang around the forum but it is worth sharing a little from my hang last Saturday with
Michael. To start, he is touring with a show called "In the Mood" which is an outstanding tribute to the Big Band era. Catch it if it comes to your
area. On to the hang - between shows I was able to spend a couple of hours which included a lesson, dinner and hang. Michael was able to analyze and improve my
playing (breathing) problem in all of about 5 seconds. After an hour of tips, practice and demonstrations I started to get the hang of it. While I am only a
week into practicing proper breathing I can say it has helped immensely. Michael also has a bunch of great stories and is a great guy. My wife just tolerates
my trumpet enthusiasm but she really enjoyed talking to Michael and can hardly wait for him to stop by again. Especially if we can convince him to cook.
(side-note: how does one guy get all this - great trumpet player / play with Maynard / gourmet cook) All in all, my recommendation is this: if you are looking
for someone to help you fix a playing problem and you can get in touch with Michael you will profit wildly. Thanks Michael!
