This special 'one night' event will feature 6 former alumni who performed with MF's band over the years. Come out and help us pay tribute to the one, the only…Maynard Ferguson. As always, there is no cover to hear us play. We play from 5:30-8:30 that Friday. See you all on the 8^th! The last time Scooter played with your band, I got there just in time to hear the last note of the night. But as Stockton said "it was a really good note." lol For folks who might come but aren't familiar with the place, there's a cash-only parking lot right next door, and a small amount of free street parking. Both the club and the lot are likely to be quite full. Thanks for the heads up!

Posts: 2 (12/31/09 04:18 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	We always have fun. There is no attitude, bitterness, etc... Just a bunch of Dallas guys playing fun music. It's time-consuming, and expensive, but I have never had such a fun 'hobby' (i.e. leading a band). We have been going for a couple of years now, and the band is basically the same. Every week I have people who are not in the band asking to play. That's a great feeling, as is having something that can let people forget about their problems for a few hrs a week. I hope to see some of you all there! The show will definitely cost me $, but somewhere on the 8th, MF will be smiling. I will do what I can to vid tape it for those of you who will miss it. Also, I will see who wants to 'sit in' on my Latin gig after the show Friday, and on Saturday, and try to tape that, as well. I'm off Thurs night, but Scott and I might 'crash' the blues club that loves me, or a quartet a friend does. I'm thinking quartet... ha Definitely taping that one...

Maybe if you stream it live I could here it here in Sacto. Based on the lineup of songs and talent this is the biggest tribute since St. Louis back in '06. I didn't make that either but I have the DVD so I'm wondering if there will be a taping. You just gotta get this on DVD ! Bill

Posts: 3 (01/04/10 09:03 PM) Reply Quote More My Recent Posts	Not sure 'streaming' will happen, but if nothing else, I will tape with my little SD recorder. It's what I use to record all of my gigs. I will have the MD and H2 going, as well. I am waiting to hear back from a sound guy who would record and vid tape it. He and I were roommates at UNT, and he now runs a sound/recording business. That would keep me from having to jack with it.

Yeah, I have been around, just been busy with life, etc… I have managed to force my way into several bands (a smooth jazz band, a cover band, an 8-piece swing group, 3 full-size big bands, a 'scaled down' big band, a Latin band, a quartet, and am trying to get into another rock band). The Latin band plays 4 nights a week, but the others just do private parties. So, I don't consider them 'steady'. But I seem to stay busy enough playing. Plus, I enjoy the variety, and can sub out off all but 2 groups. Add the big band and 10 piece I do my best to lead, and I wind up getting no sleep. With all the playing I do, I should be a lot better. Ha Hope you are doing well! Donny

MF would have been thrilled that we had a blast. donny
